How to Be Successful with TikTok Marketing

Raise your hand if you’re one of the 1 billion users on TikTok ✋

That’s a lot of people to connect with, so why not use it for your marketing strategy?

TikTok can be an excellent place to show off your brand and gain a following.

But how do you know if it’s right for you? Let’s go over that together and see:

What is TikTok?

TikTok is a short-form video app that is taking the world by storm. Its fast-paced nature keeps users engaged for up to 52 per day.

A full hour just on one social media site is a lot of viewing time.

Creating videos is a breeze, especially since each one is only 15 seconds long. But don’t worry, you can string together four of those videos to make a 60-second long video.

You’re able to add music, filters, effects, and so much more.

But how do you know if TikTok is right for your business?

Who Uses TikTok?

The user base on TikTok consists of mostly women, but men are not far behind.

It’s also used mostly by 19-29 year olds but is closely followed by users 18 and under.

If this sounds like your target audience, keep reading to find out how you can use TikTok to those users.

How You Can Use TikTok for Your Business

TikTok is a great app to scroll through for entertainment and laughs, but it can also be a great tool to excel your business and get you more clients.

There are many ways to use it to your advantage, like:

Creating a Branded Channel

You can create a branded channel for your business to put out your own content and gain followers.

Creating videos with your own branded content shows who you are as a brand and lets people see the real you.

Using already trending songs and sounds in your videos can help you get seen as well, but make sure you use it wisely. If the video and sound don’t make sense together, the post won’t get much interaction.

Work With Influencers

Influencers can be a great source of knowledge on the app and can show that you are a trusted person to work with.

They can take your product or service and turn it into something they know their viewers will like and engage with. As a result, they can open your business to a whole new audience and boost your brand’s awareness.

Influencers can show themselves using your product or talk about how the product/service helped solve their problem.

Be careful; however, not every influencer will benefit your business. Instead, find one who aligns with your goals and who can help you reach the right people.

Trust the influencers and let them talk to their viewers the way they know works. They’ll trust your brand more, which will show in their content.

Create a Hashtag Challenge

TikTok users love challenges. From dance challenges, art challenges, or just challenges for life in general, they can’t get enough.

With so many to choose from, you can find one that works best for your business.

You can even create your own!

One of my favorite challenges was the flip the switch challenge. It was always fun to watch them, whether they were a funny clothes swap or a great-looking outfit.

Advertise

Like with the other social media platforms, you can advertise on TikTok. There are so many different ways to advertise, including:

  • In-feed ads

  • Top-view ads

  • Brand takeovers

  • Branded hashtag challenges

  • Branded effects

Check out their page for more information on how to set up ads on TikTok.

Our Top 5 Accounts to Check Out

There are so many outstanding accounts on TikTok it’s challenging to get them all, but we wanted to show you our top 5 favorite accounts. Check them out!

Chipotle

Chipotle is doing TikTok right, and they just keep coming up with more!

Their lid flip challenge encouraged people to get creative with their bowls and flip their lids with style. Not only did this show off their product, but it also gave people a reason to purchase and got some excellent reach for their brand. Plus, the fails of the videos are just as fun.

They did just as well with their #guacgance challenge and #boorito challenge, proving they really know how to market on TikTok.

Duolingo

Duolingo has its brand at the forefront of every video by focusing on their mascot, Duo the Owl. He runs around the office doing trends, challenges, and duets.

They know how to keep people entertained and coming back for more. Duo is just an adorable mascot, so who wouldn’t want to watch their videos?

Milk Bar

Milk Bar is a sweet treat delivery company that uses TikTok in a great way. They feature videos with baking tips and videos of them making the food using trending sounds.

Their videos are incredibly catchy, and they do a great job of showing just how yummy their products are. In addition, they do a great at balancing teaching their viewers and keeping them entertained.

The Washington Post

The Washington Post is doing news right. They figured out how to present news and information in a fun way. They do a great job appealing to the younger generation, keeping them entertained and informed.

Using sounds and comedic skits, they inform their viewers of the latest news in a way that keeps them coming back for more.

Ryanair

Ryanair is doing a great job at appealing to the funny side of people and the younger generations. They hop on the different trends and sounds TikTok has and use them perfectly.

Their main tactic, though, is a real piece of art.

They created characters with their planes by using a filter that adds eyes and mouth to an object. The tag line for their account, “A talking Plane just trying to sell plane tickets.” Perfection. 👌

TikTok, Times Up

TikTok can be a great place for marketing your business. It takes time to find your groove, so don’t give up. Try different things to see what takes off for you.

Don’t miss out on the incredible opportunities you could be getting with TikTok marketing.
